Army SC consolidate top position in Group A with sixth win

Group A table leaders Army SC recovered from losing three wickets for 30 to beat Navy SC by seven wickets, riding on unbeaten half-centuries from Lakshan Edirisinghe and Asela Gunaratne, who put on 110 in an unbroken partnership in their Major Limited Over match played at Dombagoda yesterday. It was the soldiers’ sixth win of the tournament.

Thikshila de Silva scored his maiden century in this format, a crackerjack knock of 106* off 65 balls, inclusive of eight sixes and six fours to guide Chilaw Marians CC to a 54-run win over Police SC at Police Park. With this win, the Marians go to the top of Group B.

In another game, Kandy Customs CC pulled off a thrilling one-wicket win over BRC after losing nine wickets for 84 runs, chasing a target of 102.

Saracens SC, Nugegoda SWC and CCC were the other teams to record wins, while four matches ended in a No Result without a ball bowled due to a wet outfield.
