The Inter-Club Rugby League 2025/26 saw two thrilling encounters giving close wins for Army Sports Club and Air Force Sports Club on Saturday.
At Panagoda, Army SC edged past Navy SC in a pulsating contest, winning 41/38. Army crossed the line seven times, converting three times, while Navy SC too responded well with six tries, converting four of them, falling short in the end. At the short breather, it was the Navy who led 17/12.
Navy SC were equally impressive, responding with keeping the pressure on until the final whistle. The match swung end to end, with both sides capitalising on defensive lapses, making it one of the most entertaining fixtures of the season so far.
At Longdon Place, Air Force SC produced a dominant performance to defeat Sri Lions SC 39/18. Air Force ran in seven well-constructed tries, underlining their sharp backline play and effective use of width, while adding two conversions to build an unassailable lead.
At the short breather, Air Force led 17/8.
Sri Lions SC showed flashes with three tries and a penalty, but struggled to contain Air Force’s pace and continuity, especially in the second half.
