Anusha Samaranayake National Fast Bowling Coach at HPC

Former Sri Lanka fast bowler Anusha Samaranayake has been reappointed as National Fast Bowling Coach to the High Performance Centre (HPC) at Khettarama.

A Level 3 qualified coach, Samaranayake worked as the National Fast Bowling Coach of Sri Lanka Cricket from 2008 to 2015. A former first-class cricketer, he was part of Sri Lanka’s first Test tour to England in 1984. Samaranayake assumed duties on 6 March for a period of two years and will focus on the Fast Bowling aspect of all the national teams.

Two other appointments were also approved by the Executive Committee of SLC to the HPC.

Dr. Hashan Amarathunga has been appointed Sports Performance Nutritionist. Dr Amarathunga was serving as the Senior Registrar in Clinical Nutrition of the National Hospital Colombo and holds a MD in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Colombo. He has been working with the national team as the team sports nutrition physician before taking over his latest position on a full-time basis. Dr. Amarathunga holds a Diploma in Sports Nutrition offered by the International Olympic Committee and has worked with the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Hockey team, among several other sports-related assignments. He was appointed on 6 February for a period of one year and will focus on the nutritional aspects of the national teams, starting from the Under-19 level.

Jonathan Porter has been appointed as the physiotherapist. Porter served as physiotherapist of the Australian Men’s cricket team, focusing on its white-ball tours in Australia, India, and South Africa.
