Anil Jayasinghe appointed Referees Manager for AR1 in Colombo

Former Vidyartha College, Kandy Sports Club rugby player and one of the former top class referees Anil Jayasinghe was appointed as Referees Manager for the Asia Rugby Division 1 Tournament which will take place at the Racecourse ground from 30 April till 4 May.

Meanwhile former Nugawela Central player and high ranked young referee at present, Ishanka Abeykoon was appointed to officiate at the opening encounter between Qatar and Kazakhstan on 30 April. Singapore referee, Just Wang will oversee the Sri Lanka vs Indian encounter which will be the second game on day 1.

Ishanka Abeykoon and UAE’s referee James Fairbourne will officiate on the final day on 4 May according to the placing of the teams.

Raveen Alexander (Assistant referee 1) and Gihan Yatawara (Assistant referee 2) will officiate at this tournament as well. Former Havies player, Wimal Senanayake will officiate as the Citing Commissioner, while Shahid Sangani and Aruna Jayasekera will be the 2 Judicial Officers at AR1.

The winner of this tournament will move forward to Asia Rugby Top 4 in 2025 while losers will be demoted to AR Division 2.
