Anika Seneviratne wins third successive National Clay Court tennis championship

Anika Seneviratne of Ladies College on Saturday cruised to her third successive National Clay Court Championship victory defeating Savini Jayasooriya of Bishop’s College comfortably 6/2 and 6/1.

Sri Lanka Tennis after a six-month break owing to COVID-19 kicked off the Nationals which was originally scheduled in mid-March.

In extremely hot and humid conditions, Anika had to work hard and took a few matches during the tournament to find her rhythm before the final. 

Anika has previously led the Sri Lanka Women’s tennis team to a Silver Medal at the South Asian Games in December last year and also won Sri Lanka’s only individual medal.
