The second quarter-final of the 2025 Clifford Cup Knockout Rugby Tournament will take place today (27 March) at Ratmalana, where Sri Lanka Air Force will face CH & FC in a do or die encounter.

Air Force ended 4th in the 2025 League playing in the Cup segment while CH ended 5th overall winning the Plate Trophy.

CH and FC are led by Janice Dilshan, will be key as they look to advance to the semifinals. Other players who have done well are Gimhana Silva, Nisan Chamuditha, Harsha Maduranga and Lahiru Lakshan.

Air Force, on the other hand, impressed this season by making it to the Cup segment, marking their best league finish in over a decade. Their Head Coach, Asela Deshapriya, had done a very good job this season taking the Air Force in to the Cup segment.

Shehanda Umagiliyage (last year DS Captain) back in the team, senior players Ishara Madushan, Shashika Fernando and stand in skipper Sharaka Werella will play a major part in this crunch encounter.

The winner of this encounter will face defending champions Kandy SC in the semifinals on 1 April at Nittawela. With both teams evenly matched, this quarterfinal promises an intense battle, as CH & FC look to build on their Plate success while Air Force aims to continue their strong season.

Referee Ishanka Abeykoon will officiate this encounter. (SJ)
