Access Solar and Access Real Estate/Residencies have officially named elite javelin thrower Rumesh Tharanga as their corporate Brand Ambassador in a sponsorship understanding running through the 2028 Olympic Games.
Initiated following a special request from Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage, the partnership will provide financial and logistical backing for both Tharanga and his coach. This corporate alliance aims to elevate Sri Lankan sports on the global stage while underscoring the vital connection between corporate backing and athletic excellence.
Tharanga made history in 2025 as the first Sri Lankan male javelin thrower to reach the finals of the World Athletics Championships.
With his sights set on international glory, Tharanga said: “My final target is the 2028 Olympic Games. Before that, I will focus on the 2026 Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games.”
As subsidiaries of the Access Group of Companies, both Access Real Estate, a prominent property developer, and Access Solar, a renewable energy firm, view this partnership as part of their broader commitment to national sports development. Both entities emphasise that consistent, long-term corporate investment is critical for empowering local athletes to train, compete, and win at major international events.
