Unbeaten Abans Group, will take on the confident Ceylinco General Insurance in the day/night Final of the 6th Ceylon Biscuits Limited sponsored, “CBL – Munchee” trophy, MCA D division 50 over league tournament 2026, tomorrow (14 December) at the CCC Grounds Maitland Crescent, commencing 2:30 p.m.
In the top half semi-final that went right to the wire, Abans Group making a heart stopping two runs win with one delivery to spare, over George Steuart Health. Abans Group batting first scored 171 all out in 50 overs; George Steuart Health fell short by just two runs, scoring 169 all out in 49.5 overs, thanks to the magnificent spell of medium spell of bowling by Madura Bashitha who finished with a five wickets haul giving away 39 runs in 9.5 overs.
In the bottom half semi-final, Ceylinco General Insurance eliminated the unbeaten and fancied Seylan Bank by three wickets. Seylan Bank was restricted to 146 all out in 47.3 overs and Ceylinco General Insurance replied with 147 for seven in 44.2 overs.
Abans Group is led by Sudara Dakshina and Ceylinco General Insurance is led by Sajith Jayamanne; The MCA appointed Match Referee for the Final is Athula Wickramatillake.
