Abans PLC, has announced its title sponsorship for the 76th edition of the historic "Battle of the Golds" cricket encounter.
The announcement was made at a press conference held recently, solidifying a partnership between the corporate giant and two of Moratuwa’s most esteemed educational institutions: St. Sebastian’s College and Prince of Wales' College.
Now in its 76th year, the Battle of the Golds remains a highlight of Sri Lanka’s school cricket calendar. The much-anticipated series will feature the traditional three-day Test match from 6 to 8 March, followed by the 41st One-Day encounter on 14 March, and will culminate in a high energy T20 match on 15 March.
More than just a game, this annual fixture is a cherished tradition that unites generations of students, alumni, and cricket fans, celebrating a spirited display of sportsmanship and camaraderie. As the Title Sponsor, Abans PLC will strengthen its commitment to empowering youth and nurturing sporting excellence. This partnership emphasises the company’s dedication to fostering talent and creating opportunities for young athletes to shine on a prominent platform.

Both institutions have been home to cricket talent over the years, with St. Sebastian’s College having produced renowned cricketers like Dulip Mendis, Romesha Kaluwitharana, Roger Wijesooriya, Prasanna Jayawardana, Sajeewa De Silva, Vishwa Fernando, Avishka Fernando, Praveen Jayawickrama, and Amila Aponso, while Prince of Wales’ College has produced talented players such as Kusal Mendis, Lahiru Thirimanna, Amal Silva, Shehan Jayasuriya and D.S de Silva.
