APGC Junior Championship 2026 to tee off on 17 June

Sri Lanka Golf will host the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Junior Championship 2026 at the Royal Colombo Golf Club from 17 to 19 June, marking a major milestone for the country’s golfing calendar and reaffirming Sri Lanka’s growing reputation as a destination for international sporting events.

The three-day championship will feature the region’s finest young golfers from 15 countries Singapore, South Korea, Taipei, India, China, Hong Kong China, Thailand, Myanmar, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Philippines, and hosts Sri Lanka.

Organised by Sri Lanka Golf the tournament will provide an excellent platform for emerging talent to compete at the highest junior level while also promoting sports tourism and showcasing Sri Lanka’s capability to stage major international championships.

Golfers recording the lowest aggregate scores over 54 holes in the boys’ and girls’ individual categories will be crowned champions, with eligibility restricted to golfers aged under 17 years on the tournament’s tee-off date.

Sri Lanka will field 4 each from boys and girls comprising promising young golfers from Colombo, Kandy, Anuradhapura and Nuwara Eliya. The national squad will be guided by Head Coach Mithun Perera while veteran Banker, Tharanga Gunasekara will serve as team manager.

The boys’ teams feature Lavidu Premarathna, Adhithya Weerasinghe, Thejas RathisKanth, Janeesh Weerasinghe, Ayaan Gunasekara, Kaiyen Johnpillai, Udheera Bandara and Chandrakumar Dharaniyan.

The girls’ squads comprise Kaya Daluwatte, Sithara Lorance, Vihara Herath, Kaitlyn Norton, Venudi Keerthana, Genuli Weerakoon, Aaraadhi Samararatne and Mushfira Muzammil.

With Sri Lanka Golf hosting this prestigious regional championship, the tournament is expected to further elevate the country’s standing in Asian golf while giving the nation’s rising stars a valuable opportunity to compete against the region’s best on home soil.
