53rd Mercantile Rugby Sevens kicks off on 11 Sept.

The 53rd Mercantile Rugby Sevens 2025, conducted by the Mercantile Rugby Football Association (MRFA) under its new President Mindika Jayasinghe from Sampath Bank, is scheduled to be held on 11, 12 and 13 September, at the CR&FC Grounds, Longdon Place, Colombo 7.

All players should be employed on or before 30 June.

Entries are called from all currently registered mercantile firms and will close on 28 August.

The Captains and Managers briefing will be held on 21 August and the official draw will be held on 8 September.

In the previous tournament held on 27 and 28 September 2024 at the CR&FC Grounds, John Keells Holdings ‘A’ won the Cup, beating CDB (27/0); Pearl Beach won the Plate, beating Sampath Bank (39/12); Brandix won the Bowl, beating John Keells Holdings ‘B’ (28/10); and Moresand won the Shield, beating Ceylinco VIP (21/05).
