Logistics is often perceived as being about ships, planes, and trucks. In reality, logistics is about people. Successfully running a logistics operation requires strong people management skills, often more than technical logistics expertise. In many ways, you need to be a human resources professional as much as a logistics professional.

Today, the global logistics industry faces the challenge of attracting, managing, and developing new generation. While technology can certainly help address some of these challenges, it is not the complete solution. As logistics company owners and leaders, we must also understand how to engage, motivate, and develop this new generation of talent.

Many companies see the easiest solution as hiring experienced professionals. However, the industry itself is facing a significant shortage of experienced logistics talent, making this approach increasingly difficult and unsustainable.

At Eagle Logistics, we chose a different path from the very beginning. We invested in developing the next generation of logistics professionals rather than simply relying on experienced hires. Over the years, we have proudly contributed more than 1,000 skilled professionals to Sri Lanka’s logistics industry—not only in freight forwarding but across the broader supply chain sector.
