Sri Lanka Customs on a drive to curtail Software Piracy

Sri Lanka Customs, under the auspices of the Director General of Customs, recently embarked on conducting a series of capacity building programs in partnership with the Business Software Alliance (BSA) and its members on curtailing software piracy in Sri Lanka.

The program endeavours to make Ccustoms oofficers aware of the law, the numerous ways in which pirates bring pirated software, into the country. Detailed trainings of product identification of counterfeit and pirated software, will be given. Further, Ccustoms officials have committed to be vigilant with regards to the smuggling of non-genuine products and proper importation in to the country via air and shipping. The inaugural session was chaired by the Director General with BSA Consultant Shalini Ratwatte, Consultant BSA, Amice van der Burg-Dissanayake and Poojitha Rajapakse of Microsoft and members of the 2two authorised Microsoft dDistributors, Trident Corporation and.
