SAC organises two prestigious mind sports which are conducted by the International Quizzing Association, Sri Lanka branch (IQASL) annually. The Governor’s Challenge Trophy for Global Commerce Excellence with CBSL & the Terminal Operators’ Cup for International Trade, Logistics & Transport are held each year on a rotational basis. This year too over 250 participants are expected to take part for the first TOC challenge cup.
Shippers’ Academy Colombo CEO Rohan Masakorala said: “This event is held to uplift the standards and to build the image of our industry and link the supply chain with the value chain. We also hope to send a message of an emerging hub status of our country to the world. The event will develop skills, knowledge and encourage more people to join these sectors which give lucrative opportunities open around the world to them.”
SLPA Chairman Dr. Priyath Wickrama said: “We are delighted to partner such an event as Sri Lanka has taken giant steps in the maritime sector over the past five years and that his vision is to make the country a mega maritime hub to promote trade and logistics. I am sure the industry will support this event as it helps a spectrum of the industry activities from logistics, exports to banking & insurance and the supply chain in general.”
SLPA MD Captain Nihal Keppetipola said that they too would like to encourage skills and knowledge development in the sector and hence came to support this event.
Erwin Haaze and Nelson Liu, CEOs of SAGT and CICT respectively, have joined the efforts as strategic partners to support the organisers and to promote the maritime sector, nationally and globally through this prestigious event.
The quiz will be opened to both public and private sector corporates and organisations and will offer attractive prizes and awards including the Lalith Athulathmudali memorial shield for the runners’ up. The following sectors will be also awarded prizes:
