Turkish Airlines has announced that it has resumed operations to Misrata, its third destination in Libya, following the launch of flights to Tripoli and Benghazi. The national flag carrier had suspended flights to Misrata in January 2015.
With this new launch, Turkish Airlines now serves 62 destinations across the African continent.
Misrata flights will be operated with B737-78D aircraft three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, said the Turkish carrier in a statement.
The new flight TK 1145 will take off from Istanbul Airport at 11:30 a.m. and will land in Misrata at 2:25 p.m., while on return TK 1146 will leave Misrata Airport at 4:25 p.m. and arrive in Istanbul at 7:15 p.m.
Located on the Mediterranean coast in Northwestern Libya, Misrata is the country’s third largest city and one of its most developed centres of industry and commerce.
The Port of Misrata is among the most important maritime transport hubs in North Africa, it added.
