The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka (AHK Sri Lanka) successfully led a high-ranking business delegation to the world-renowned Transport Logistic 2025 exhibition, held from 2-5 June in Munich, Germany. As the world’s largest trade fair for logistics, mobility, IT, and supply chain management, the event served as a vital platform for the Sri Lankan delegation to explore the cutting-edge industry advancements and to forge strategic international connections.
The 14-member delegation represented a cross-section of Sri Lanka’s evolving logistics sector, including freight forwarding companies, representatives of international shipping lines, warehouse management experts, and IT solution providers. Among the participating companies were industry leaders such as Aitken Spence, DIMO, Abans Logistics, Smart Marine Shipping, Marine Shipping Services, Rays International Shipping, Pulsar Shipping, and BCS Technologies.
Throughout the four-day event, AHK Sri Lanka facilitated over 30 tailor-made B2B meetings, providing delegates with exclusive access to prominent European companies and potential partners. These one-on-one engagements opened doors to new collaboration, knowledge exchange, and direct market entry opportunities for Sri Lankan businesses. One of the major highlights of the event was the delegation’s visit to a fully automated warehouse facility in Munich. It was an insightful experience that showcased practical innovations in warehousing operations and sparked important discussions on how such technologies could be adapted to the Sri Lankan context.
Reflecting on the experience, AHK Sri Lanka Head of Corporate Affairs and Export Promotions Malintha Gajanayake emphasised the strategic value of this engagement, “Sri Lanka is strategically located at the crossroads of major East-West trade routes, giving us strong potential to become a key logistics and maritime hub. I believe it is vital for Sri Lanka to focus on port development, digital transformation, and strengthen its global partnerships to make the most of this advantage. We have identified that our next steps should be to host a Sri Lanka-German logistics conference in Colombo and to organise a Sri Lankan country pavilion at the next Transport Logistic exhibition in 2027.”
In addition, DIMO Chairman Ranjith Pandithage stated, “Sri Lanka should embrace latest technologies to be up on the game and to make full use of the strategic location. This was a great opportunity for me and the other delegates to meet market leaders in the industry and to bring a bag full of ideas to Sri Lanka.”
Harendra Samarasinghe of BCS Technologies, attending the event for the first time, shared his experience from the IT perspective, “We are extremely happy with the engagements we had with the market leaders in the industry during these four days. The visit to the warehouse facility, in particular, made us understand the specific areas where we can collaborate internationally with our IT solutions. I strongly believe Sri Lanka needs to showcase its full potential with a dedicated country pavilion at the next fair, bringing together all stakeholders to build confidence and forge long-term collaborations.”
Through this successful delegation, AHK Sri Lanka reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating international exposure for local enterprises, fostering innovation-driven growth, and positioning Sri Lanka as a rising logistics and maritime hub in South Asia.
