Sri Lanka Shipping Company (SLSC) congratulates the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) on the occasion of its 42nd anniversary.

SLSC has been privileged to enjoy a long-standing and fruitful relationship with the SLPA, working together tirelessly to help cater to the increasing number of vessels calling at the Ports of Colombo, Galle, Hambantota and Trincomalee.

SLSC has been fuelling the shipping trade in Sri Lanka since 1956 to provide services in the shipping and maritime industry, and today caters to the growing needs of a global clientele in the region. With a rich heritage of over 65 years, SLSC is one of the most trusted and reputed shipping companies in the region.

SLSC’s wide gamut of activities makes it the preferred choice by global shipowners in both the liner and bulk segments, the oil and gas industry and foreign naval fleets. Ship owning and operations include towage and salvage, terminal operations, new building consultancy and support and chartering. Ship management includes ISM, crew management as well as procurement and inventory management.

SLSC also offers numerous maritime services to shipowners and Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers (NVOCCs), including acting as husbanding and protective agents, charterer/receiver agents, and providing stevedoring, customs clearance and trucking to beneficiary cargo owners (importers and exporters).  SLSC has also been a pioneer in supporting international security firms by providing on-board security team (OBST) related services such as the provision of sea-marshals (armed or unarmed), arrangement of necessary approvals, provision of logistics services via Sri Lankan ports, operating launch services, agency and husbanding activities. SLSC has also operated multiple state of the art mobile bulk bagging units since 2007, ensuring accurate weighment and a high rate of productivity.

Through the strict maintenance and management of organised work systems based on International Safety Management Codes, SLSC ensures that priority to safety is instilled across all operations. SLSC also believes in investing in the maritime industry’s future and hence have offered cadetships on its vessels and even donated marine equipment to maritime learning institutes to promote maritime education in Sri Lanka.

SLSC has no doubt that the strong bond with the SLPA will continue to flourish as they work in unison in striving to make Sri Lanka a key logistics hub in the region. SLSC extends its best wishes to the Chairman, Board of Directors, management and staff of the SLPA on this occasion.
