Sea Master Group inaugurated its second Integrated Logistics Centre (ILC) on 11 June 2026, investment exceeding Rs. 500 m in Hendala, Wattala, strengthening Sri Lanka’s logistics infrastructure and reinforcing its vision of becoming a regional logistics hub. The facility is strategically located just 8 to 9 kilometres from the Port of Colombo, offering customers faster and more efficient access to port-related services.

The new centre, developed on 5.5 acres, represents a significant investment in Sri Lanka’s logistics sector and marks another milestone in Sea Master Group’s 23-year journey as one of the country’s leading private sector logistics providers.

Sea Master Group Chairman Taarik Booso described the opening as a landmark achievement for the company. “It is both a profound honour and a great privilege to welcome you to this historic occasion, the grand opening of the Sea Master Integrated Logistics Center in Hendala, Wattala,” Booso said.

He noted that the company’s achievements reflect not only its growth but also its commitment to customers, principals, agents, partners, and the country. “Our unwavering commitment extends above all to our motherland, Sri Lanka,” he said.

Booso added that the Wattala facility is the Group’s second Integrated Logistics Centre, following the launch of its first hub in Kapuwatta, Ja-Ela in 2017.

“The Sea Master Integrated Logistics Center stands as the culmination of that vision, a world-class logistics platform designed to serve Sri Lanka with excellence while positioning the country as a key logistics hub in the region,” he said.

He further highlighted the group’s operating philosophy, stating: “The Sea Master Group comprises several subsidiary companies, all guided by a simple yet powerful philosophy: ‘Handled locally, recognised globally.’”

The first phase of the project is already operational and includes container storage facilities, container repair and maintenance services, and laden container handling capabilities. A weighbridge facility and 50 reefer plug-in points are expected to become fully operational within the coming month.

Booso also announced plans for further expansion, with a second phase scheduled to begin within the next six months. The expansion will add an additional three acres, including modern warehousing facilities and increased container storage capacity to meet growing demand.

Managing Director Anuruddha Withanarachchi highlighted the strategic importance of the location, noting that proximity to the Port of Colombo would improve operational efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and lower logistics costs for

customers.

He said the investment reflects Sea Master’s commitment to delivering integrated supply chain solutions aligned with the evolving needs of international trade and local industry.

Director and Chief Executive Officer Layan de Silva said the new logistics centre would further strengthen the Group’s ability to provide end-to-end logistics solutions while generating employment opportunities and contributing to national economic development.
