Continuing its commitment to excellence in maritime services, Prudential Shipping has served as the official port agent for the arrival of MV ZHEN HUA 24, a heavy lift carrier that recently called at the Eastern Container Terminal (ECT) at the Port of Colombo. As the appointed port agent for ZHEN HUA 24, Prudential Shipping ensured seamless coordination of all port-side operations, showcasing our expertise in handling complex, high-value shipping movements. It also worked closely with the local office of ZPMC, supporting the efforts of ZPMC China, the supplier of these state-of-the-art cranes to facilitate timely and efficient delivery.

ZHEN HUA 24 is a purpose-built Heavy Lift Carrier with a Gross Registered Tonnage of 37,879 and a Length Overall (LOA) of 243.85 meters. This vessel brought with it the latest addition to ECT’s modern infrastructure: 11 Automated Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes, which will be integrated into terminal operations, increasing the RMG count to an impressive 40 units.

Currently, ECT operates 12 Ship-to-Shore (STS) Cranes, and with these additional RMG’s, the terminal is primed for expanded throughput capacity and enhanced operational efficiency. The move further reinforces ECT’s position as a critical logistics hub in the Indian Ocean and aligns with Sri Lanka’s vision of becoming a leading maritime centre in the region.
