IOSL launches ICM British Diploma in Business of Shipping

The IOSL which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year said it has signed an agreement to represent the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM) UK as its local partner and approved centre in Sri Lanka.

The ICM offers a very broad range of high profile diplomas, advanced diplomas and graduate diplomas covering Shipping, Logistics, Maritime Management, Supply Chain, Maritime Law, Marine Insurance, Procurement, Marketing for Hospitality and Tourism Management, etc. It also has nearly 200 Single Subject Diplomas where interested candidates could obtain a qualification in four to six months.

IOSL is currently offering the Diploma in the Business of Shipping which is a combined program with the Certificate in Logistics Services and Freight Forwarding which has 16 modules (approved by the DGMS Ministry of Shipping) + its Foundation award consisting of a further 10 modules.

With a view to enhancing the knowledge and qualifications of the local shipping and logistics community, the IOSL is now pleased to invite candidates who have completed the DGMS certificate course at authorised institutes and those having similar qualifications, to upgrade their qualifications by registering for the next level being the ‘Diploma in the Business of Shipping’ which is offered by the ICM UK. This course covers a subject area of 16 topics which could be completed in 4-5 months of part-time study.

The next intake for this diploma is scheduled to commence around the end January leading to the examination in June 2023. Classroom lectures will be conducted on Sundays at the Ladies College IPS, Colombo 03. Registrations will close on 15 January 2023.

After completion of the above program the candidates could proceed to study further 3 modules leading to the Diploma in Maritime Management UK. Candidates who successfully complete the Diploma in Maritime Management are eligible to use the letters/titles ‘DipMM UK’ after their names which would highlight their professionalism in the shipping industry.
