The Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC) has signed the Classification Service Agreement with Bureau Veritas (BV) for the newly contracted two Cable Laying and Repair Vessels ordered by Orange Marine of France.
The Agreement marks the latest milestone in the long-standing and successful collaboration between Colombo Dockyard and Bureau Veritas, reinforcing the shared commitment to innovation and excellence in shipbuilding and maritime standards.
Designed by Vard Design AS of Norway, these vessels will be constructed in accordance with Bureau Veritas classification standards and will fully comply with the regulatory requirements of the French Flag Authority. In alignment with global environmental goals, the vessels’ design emphasizes eco-friendly operation and reduced fuel consumption, meeting the stringent BV CLEANSHIP requirements.
The new vessels will represent the next generation of ultra-modern, high-technology cable laying and repair ships, comparable to Sophie Germain, which was built and delivered by CDPLC in July 2023. Specially designed and equipped for sub-sea cable laying and repair operations, these vessels will feature exceptional sea-keeping qualities, superior station-keeping performance, and optimized fuel efficiency.
Colombo Dockyard said this project underscores its capability to deliver technically advanced and environmentally responsible vessels that meet the highest international standards, further strengthening its position as a leading shipbuilder in the region.
