Cabinet nod to submit orders enacted by Merchant Shipping Act, Licensing Shipping Agents Act to Parliament

The Cabinet of Ministers last week approved the orders issued to enact the Merchant Shipping Act and the Licensing Shipping Agents Act by Parliament.

The orders were issued by the Trade Secretariat implemented under the Ports, Shipping and Aviation Ministry through 13 Gazette notifications published under the Merchant Shipping Act No. 52 of 1971 and the order issued under the provisions of Licensing of Shipping Agents Act No. 10 of 1972.

The proposal to this effect submitted by Ports, Shipping and Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
