Bangkok free from state of emergency

The eight-month state of emergency in Bangkok has been lifted by the Thai government on Tuesday and will take effect starting Wednesday, December 22, 2010.

The decree was lifted due to the fact that the political tension has gradually died down and the “red shirt” protesters have opted for more peaceful rallies, the most recent one was in May drawing 10,000 people to participate, as reported in Tour Expi.
