Bad weather with strong winds in several provinces

The Meteorological Department yesterday warned that the bad weather with heavy rains and strong winds will prevail in several provinces in the country yesterday and today.

An official of the department told the media that there will be heavy rain with strong winds in the Eastern, North Central, Northern, and Central Provinces as well as in the district of Hambantota. The prevailing bad weather will continue the whole day of Monday as well, the official said.

The duty officer also warned the public not to panic as what is prevailing in the Eastern Province is the strong wind and not a cyclone.

The wet weather that prevails in the western and other parts of the country will also continue today.
