For the first time in its history, Abans held its LG Managers Convention in Bangkok, Thailand, where over 500 Abans managers, comprising of its showroom managers, brand managers and departmental managers, together with their families, were treated to a three nights and four days all inclusive package tour.
The Abans LG Managers Convention 2010 was held with tinsel and glitter at the majestic Ambassador Hotel in Bangkok on 24 September 2010. The ballroom was packed to capacity with elegantly dressed delegates and their families, amongst whom were the directors of Abans Group and directors and management from LG Thailand.
Chief Guest Aban Pestonjee, Chairperson of Abans Group, was ushered into the hall amidst thunderous applause from the large gathering present. After the usual formalities of traditional lighting of the oil lamp, Tito Pestonjee, Managing Director of Abans, delivered his welcome address, in which he cordially welcomed the delegates and dignitaries present.
He praised the Managers of Abans for the hard work put in to not only survive but emerge victorious through the difficult economic situation in the world.
Speeches were made by Channa Pathirana, General Manager for Abans Retail Channel, who highlighted the huge expansion of showrooms throughout the island, especially in the north and east and P. Nupearachchi, DGM of Abans Elite Showrooms, who spoke about the high standards maintained at Elite Showrooms and the efficient service rendered by the managers and staff.
Between the speeches, the delegates were treated to excellent Thai traditional dance performances by professional dancing troupes.
The highlight of the business session of the convention was the presentation of high achievement awards and excellence awards to Abans managers. These awards are vigorously contested and awarded to those managers who achieve meritorious sales targets and exceptionally high standards of performance.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Tito Pestonjee, who sincerely thanked the managers for their dedicated service and promised them that the success of holding this convention in Thailand would definitely be a prelude to more such international affairs in the future.
At the end of the business session of the convention there was more entertainment in the form of a classic Western dance ensemble that left everyone impressed. There was also a traditional Thai pen long mail dance performed by the very professional dance group.
The dinner that followed was something else to talk about. An appetising blend of delicious Thai traditional food delicately fused with gourmet Western cuisine left everyone over-indulged and gasping for breath.
