Sri Lanka’s automotive component manufacturing sector marked a significant milestone with its first-ever Sri Lankan Pavilion at ACMA Automechanika New Delhi 2026, held in New Delhi, India. The pavilion was organized by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (SLACMA), reflecting a coordinated national effort to position Sri Lanka within the global automotive value chain.
Several Sri Lankan automotive component manufacturers including Accolade Engineering, Thimark Technocreations, Auto Foam, and MV Electronics showcased their products and manufacturing capabilities at the pavilion. Their participation highlighted Sri Lanka’s growing strengths in engineering, electronics, seating systems, and value-added automotive components.
This pavilion also marked Sri Lanka’s first collective presence under a national automotive identity at ACMA Automechanika, signaling the sector’s readiness to engage with international OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and global buyers.
In recognition of a decade of collaboration between SLACMA and Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), SLACMA commemorated the partnership with ACMA delegation Mr. Vineeth Mehta, Director General of ACMA, and Mr. Sriram Viji, President Designate of ACMA. This reflected the strong institutional ties developed over the past ten years to advance industry cooperation between Sri Lanka and India.
The Sri Lankan High Commission in New Delhi also played a supportive role by facilitating engagement and coordination, further strengthening bilateral industry relations during the exhibition.
In parallel with the exhibition, a Sri Lankan delegation comprising representatives from the EDB, SLACMA, and participating manufacturers undertook a series of industrial exposure visits to leading Indian automotive manufacturing facilities.
The delegation visited Hero MotoCorp in Gurugram, one of the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturing facilities. The plant produces approximately 7,000 motorcycles per day, with a production rate of one motorcycle every 18 seconds across three high-speed assembly lines offering a compelling demonstration of scale, automation, and operational excellence. Further visits included Uno Minda in Manesar, a leading Tier 1 supplier to global OEMs such as Tata Motors, Honda, and Maruti Suzuki. The facility showcased advanced manufacturing in automotive switching systems, lighting, acoustics, seating systems, and alloy wheels, underscoring deep capabilities in component integration and quality assurance. The delegation also visited Subros in Manesar, where state-of-the-art facilities for HVAC systems, condensers, radiators, hoses, and tubes demonstrated high standards of testing, precision manufacturing, and process efficiency.
The Sri Lanka Pavilion at ACMA Automechanika, represents a defining milestone for the country’s automotive component manufacturing industry. For the first time, Sri Lanka presented itself as a coordinated, export-ready automotive ecosystem, signaling a clear transition from a largely domestic- focused base to an export-oriented manufacturing sector ready to integrate in regional and global automotive supply chains. Supported by policy alignment, institutional backing, and industry collaboration, this collective presence marks the beginning of a new phase of export-led growth, positioning Sri Lanka as an emerging and credible manufacturing partner within South Asia’s automotive value chain.
