The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) which is acclaimed as the senior Chamber in Sri Lanka and excels as one of the world renowned Chambers, completes 172 years of exemplary service to the business community in Sri Lanka, this year.

Being the pioneer organisation authorised by the Secretary of State for the Colonies in 1925, to issue Certificates of Origin (C/O)) in Sri Lanka, the Commercial Documents Registration Division (CDRD) of the CCC which was set up for this purpose, has now completed 86 years.

CDRD plays a pivotal roll amongst the range of services provided by the CCC to the Sri Lankan business community at large. Vital commercial documents such as Certificates of Origin, Commercial & Freight Invoices, Agency Agreements, Survey reports, Phytosanitary & Health certificates, Authentication of Saudi Visas, Certificates of beneficiaries, to name a few, are registered by this division.

“You can be a valued beneficiary of the fully secured online system launched in July 2007 by the CCC. Further, Electronic issuance of Certificates of Origin (e-CO) allows exporters to send the documents electronically, directly from their PCs, via the Internet to the Chamber. The registered Certificate is kept ready for the Exporter to collect, on his way to the Bank. This system not only saves time as the document could be forwarded to the Chamber even after working hours but also reduces cost, paperwork and eliminate delays to the users,” said the Chamber spokesman.

Mahinda Wanniarachchi, Director, Ceylon Fresh Teas (Pvt) Ltd, commenting on the services stated: “We are very pleased to report that we are regular customers of CCC’s Documents registration division and we admire the exemplary, prompt and dedicated services offered by the staff of this division. Their public relations is outstanding and they are excellent service providers’.  Nalaka Rarnayake, Manager – Export Shipping Department of Hayleys said ‘it is a great pleasure to state that as a company who obtains a large number of commercial documents, we are indeed happy with the quality of the service rendered by the CCC’s C/O department.”

Samantha Weerakoon, Shipping Manager of Finlays Colombo PLC commented on CCC’s proficiency in On line connectivity, speedy issuance of C/Os, friendly staff and credit facility services.

“Seeing is believing! If you wish to determine the accuracy of the above comments, we invite those who do not use our services to visit us and experience the high service proficiency of this division. If you take the hospitality angle of this, while you sip a cup of Milo, your documents are processed and are ready for collection before you are done with the Milo,” said the Chamber spokesman.
