Wins Govt. contract to fix flaws in Colombo–Galle–Hambantota–Wellawaya road

The Cabinet of Ministers on Monday approved awarding over Rs. 1.2 billion contract to NTM Construction Ltd., for improvement of four road sections on a 9.91 kilometre stretch of the Colombo–Galle–Hambantota–Wellawaya Road (A 002) in the Kalutara District.

Bids were called from local contractors under the National Competitive Procurement process, with the High-Level Standing Procurement Committee recommending Maga Engineering Ltd., as the lowest responsive bidder.

Addressing the weekly post-Cabinet meeting media briefing on Tuesday, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said the project was valued at Rs. 1,228.25 million (excluding taxes).

“Eight bids were received in response to this invitation. Following a thorough evaluation process, the Standing Procurement Committees recommended NTM Construction Ltd., being the substantially responsive lowest evaluated bidder,” he said.
