On 15 November, Sri Lanka’s popular one-stop, general hardware and homeware supermarket, Homemart opened a new location at the old St. Anthony’s Hardware Building at 516, Sri Sangaraja Mawatha, Colombo 10.

Homemart, a subsidiary of St. Anthony’s Group is one of the oldest and largest hardware manufacturers and distributors in Sri Lanka. Being Sri Lanka’ s only hardware and homeware supermarket Homemart gained its immense popularity since first opening its doors in Nawala in 2017, showcasing the largest selection of the nation’s most trusted brands at the most competitive prices. The new Homemart showroom will meet all hardware and homeware requirements of customers in Colombo suburbs.

The showroom was declared open by St. Anthony’s Hardware Ltd. Chairman S.R. Gnanam and Managing Director Praveen Gnanam; Directress Shirani Gnanam, Director Thayananthan and Director/General Manager Sarath Gamage of St. Anthony’s Hardware were also present at the opening ceremony, along with other members of the organisation’s senior management.

Commenting at the ceremonial opening, the Managing Director stated: “This is the first location that my grandfather, A. Y. S Gnanam set up the St. Anthony’s Group in 1942. He worked here, built his business here, he even lived here and raised his young family on top of the stores in the early years. This place was the first home he ever built, and to him, the people who worked at St. Anthony’s were his family. So, it seems fitting that this old building, the birthplace and home of St. Anthony’s, takes on a new life as a Homemart.”

Homemart offers an unprecedented selection of over 10,000 hardware and homeware products, across hundreds of brands, in coordination with over 200 local and international suppliers. At Homemart one might find everything necessary for construction from the concrete for the foundation to the solar on the roof, from plumbing to paints, from roofing to machinery and tools, from electrical to everyday household consumables, from bathroom fittings to a large gardening range, to home appliance like blenders, stoves, vacuum cleaners, and water purifiers. Homemart is undoubtedly the largest hardware and homeware supermarkets ever in Sri Lanka to meet all customer requirements under one roof.

The Homemart under-one-roof concept sought to fill the gap in the market whereby customers were previously inconvenienced by the task of going from shop to shop in hardware-specific bazaars and districts to find specific items, without the option of comparing offerings across brands and applications.

Open seven days a week, with delivery, pre-order or pick up at your place of employment; Homemart is designed to create accessibility and convenience for busy professionals. One such convenience-focused offering would be the ability for customers to select paint colours, have them mixed and sent to their place of work, removing the hassle of running personal errands in their precious free time.
