Autodesk, together with its value-added distributor Redington, recently hosted the Autodesk AEC Digital Construction Showcase Forum at Cinnamon Life, Colombo.
Infrastructure authorities from the Government and professionals working in Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) came together to explore how digital technologies are changing the future of construction in Sri Lanka.
The forum’s main takeaway was clear: the construction industry needs to embrace technology now. Digital tools may help companies deliver projects more confidently, increase productivity, and help meet sustainability goals. Globally, Autodesk is spearheading this digital revolution, and Sri Lankan companies such as Design Group Five International (DG5) and Spectrum International Consultants Ltd., are already reaping the rewards.
During the event, customer presentations highlighted how Autodesk’s solutions are being used in real-world projects. DG5 Director/CEO Gishanka de Silva and Spectrum International Consultants Ltd. Director Roy Lasantha, together with Director – Building Information Modelling (BIM) Ishara Ranasinghe, shared case studies showing how Autodesk’s Common Data Environment (CDE), Digital Twin technologies, and BIM are simplifying workflows, improving teamwork, and delivering better results. Their experiences demonstrated that digital transformation is more than just a theory; it is already assisting Sri Lankan companies in operating more efficiently, intelligently, and sustainably.
Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) Vice President Prabodha C. Jinasena also emphasised that digital technology adoption is now necessary for the advancement of the country and is no longer optional.
Through a series of technical sessions, Autodesk experts enhanced the conversation. They gave examples of how BIM and Digital Twin technologies are helping solve some significant issues in areas such as water management and infrastructure. Better planning is made possible by these technologies, which also support eco-friendly practices and help cities in keeping up with the rapid rate of urbanisation.
A panel discussion added more depth to the conversation. The panel included de Silva, Mangala Silva (Synergo Consultants/IESL/University of Moratuwa), Autodesk Head of Strategic Territory Business Rajgopal Nair, and Technical Solution Adviser – Public Sector Rahul Joshi. They talked about how technology fosters collaboration, increases productivity, and produces more long-lasting project results.
Participants engaged in Q&A sessions to talk about real-world problems and look at potential solutions. A networking lunch served as the event’s conclusion, providing attendees with the chance to network and form future collaborations.
Autodesk reaffirmed its dedication to providing top-notch tools and knowledge to Sri Lanka’s construction industry. The company stressed that this forum was more than just an event; it was a significant step in creating a construction ecosystem in Sri Lanka that is more resilient, digital, and sustainable.
