He added that the concept store features the latest home furniture that ALPHA has on offer, all laid out in a luxurious manner, making it easy for the customer to visualise how the units fit into his or her home. We’ve gone for clean lines, a minimum of orname-ntation and durable, hard-wearing materials, says Shamal, whose team came up with the new range. The Alpha team have been active visiting international furniture exhibitions and revisiting classic furniture designs in search of inspiration and contribute with new concepts of their own.
Technology too, plays its role. “We go for unique designs for most of our home furniture products,” says Shamal. “Solid Teak and Mahogany are perennial favourites. But we also make imaginative use of modern materials, which Sri Lankan consumers aren’t so familiar with.”
ALPHA’s other concept stores includes, Wattala, Nawala, Matara, Bataramulla, Gampaha, Ratnapura, Kandy, Panadura, Jaffna, Maharagama, Kurunegala and Colombo 3. Established in 1963, Alpha Industries is a member of Finco Group and manufactured steel office furniture during its early days and later expanded to manufacture all kinds of security safes for which it continues to be the market leader even today. The company later ventured into the manufacturing of Steel, Melamine and Wood-base office furniture in addition to designing and executing its own office interiors. The company operates three factories and employs approximately 650 employees. Today, Alpha also manufactures furniture for homes, hospitals and the leisure sector.
