The Management Club (TMC) – Jaffna, under its NIS’26 Business Forum initiative in association with the Embassy of Nepal in Sri Lanka, has successfully hosted the forum -Nepal–Jaffna Engagement: Diplomatic Mission Exploration for collaborative Development at Jetwing Hotel Jaffna. The event brought together diplomats, government officials, business leaders, entrepreneurs, academics, and tourism stakeholders to explore new opportunities for collaboration between Nepal and Sri Lanka’s Northern Province in tourism, trade, manufacturing, information technology, entrepreneurship, artisanship, innovation, and cultural exchange.
The event reflected TMC Jaffna’s commitment in creating international partnerships that support sustainable economic growth and investment opportunities for the Northern Province.
TMC Jaffna Chairman commenced the program with an introduction to The Management Club and with a note on the vision of the Northern International Summit (NIS ‘26) concluded in January 2026.
Delivering the keynote address, Embassy of Nepal Chargé d’Affairs Vijay Kumar Raut, reaffirmed the longstanding friendship between Nepal and Sri Lanka and emphasised the importance of building direct partnerships with the Northern Province through this initiative. He encouraged greater collaboration in tourism, business, education, and investment while highlighting Nepal’s growing potential as a destination for trade and cultural exchange.
The forum also showcased the Northern Province’s tourism potential through presentations by Northern Tourism and Promotions Bureau Chairman Dr. Vivekanandan, together with an audio-visual presentation by the Northern Tourism Bureau. The sessions highlighted opportunities to promote two-way tourism by connecting Nepal’s heritage mountains, pilgrim locations, and adventure tourism with Northern Sri Lanka’s heritage, coastal fronts, and cultural attractions.
A dedicated session on Partnerships and Collaborations explored identified opportunities for SMEs, artisans, technology startups, manufacturing, and innovation. Representatives from the Federation of Northern Chambers and Industries and the Northern Chamber of IT presented the Province’s growing entrepreneurial ecosystem and encouraged business-to-business partnerships with Nepal. The program also featured discussions on heritage tourism and cultural collaboration as drivers of sustainable regional economic development.
The Management Club (TMC) – Jaffna Chapter reaffirmed its commitment through the NIS’26 Business Forum series, which continues to create meaningful platforms that connect diplomatic missions, government institutions, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs, fostering global partnerships that contribute to the prosperity of the Northern Province in particular and for Sri Lanaka at large thereby strengthening bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Nepal.
