Wigneswaran as CM candidate

During the Shirani Bandaranayake impeachment, the man who waxed eloquent about the Judiciary, stating as to how sacred an institution the Supreme Court is, how independent judges should be, etc., was Justice Wigneswaran. Even at that time there were several persons who suggested that Wigneswaran was not a mere judge but a political personality, and that he was actually an active member of the TNA. Wigneswaran was also described by some others as a former LTTE

sympathiser. However, the Colombo circuit and the transparency and accountability groups hailed Wigneswaran as a fearless, respected judge and as a wonderful independent jurist! Today, he is openly in the political fray, associating with Sambandan, Sumanthiran and others, and is also desperately attempting to obtain the Chief Minister’s nomination under the TNA to contest the northern provincial election.
