The op-ed article in the prestigious Forbes magazine authored by the Governor of the Central Bank, Ajith Nivard Cabraal and reproduced in your esteemed newspaper has touched on the key points that the US also needs to take into consideration in fashioning future Sri Lanka/US economic ties.

I am glad that a sensible article of this nature was published in a US magazine, because it would probably catch the eye of key policy makers in the US.

Governor Cabraal has been able to persuade US investors to make large scale investments in Sri Lanka, and I think his insight about the US psyche is commendable. I was also happy to read about the Central Bank taking steps to reposition Sri Lanka’s standing in the US, and I am confident that with a pragmatic approach, such an outcome could be achieved.

May I also say that I am glad that there are Public Servants like Governor Cabraal who take an overall interest in the well-being of our nation, and I am sure that his efforts will prove very fruitful and valuable to our country.
