The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) has launched a specially branded Airbus A321neo of SriLankan Airlines to promote Sri Lanka Expo 2027, the country’s flagship international trade exhibition, across key regional markets.
The aircraft, carrying the “Sri Lanka Expo 2027” brand identity, will operate across SriLankan Airlines’ key destinations, including India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the Maldives, Malaysia, Kuwait and Thailand.
The initiative is aimed at increasing international visibility for the exhibition, which is being positioned as a platform to showcase Sri Lanka’s export capabilities across agriculture, industrial manufacturing, export services, innovation and tourism.
The aircraft branding was unveiled at a special event attended by EDB Chairman and CEO Mangala Wijesinghe, Director General Erandika Dissanayake, Director Export Services and Sri Lanka Expo 2027 Project Lead Indumini Kodikara, Consultant Coordinator Anoma Premathilake and officials from SriLankan Airlines.
Under the partnership, SriLankan Airlines will provide discounted airfares for foreign buyers and investors attending the Expo, with discounts of up to 20% on economy-class fares and 10% on business-class fares.
The EDB said the aircraft would serve as a mobile promotional platform for the exhibition, taking the Sri Lanka Expo 2027 brand directly to markets that are important to Sri Lanka’s trade and investment ambitions.
The EDB, under the Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Ministry, will hold Sri Lanka Expo 2027 from 14 to 17 January 2027 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo.
The exhibition is expected to feature over 750 exhibitors and attract over 1,500 international buyers and investors, with the EDB seeking to position Sri Lanka as a trade and investment hub in South Asia.
The program will extend beyond the main exhibition, with an Investment Forum, industry-specific sessions and structured business-to-business matchmaking meetings planned alongside the event.
Fashion and culinary shows as well as cultural performances are also scheduled as part of efforts to showcase Sri Lanka’s wider economic and cultural offering to international visitors.
