Do not ask what your country can do for you but what you can do for the country.

This famous quote was made by the late American President John F Kennedy at his inauguration.

Most of us must practice these.

The world is going through a crisis due to the Middle East conflict and its impact is felt more severely in a country like ours.

I do not need to dwell on past faults or mistakes but what can be done now.

It’s better late than never.

Some points

1) Cut down on luxury vehicle imports and high consuming fuel vehicles.

2) Many private buildings neon signs on till morning, high consumption of electricity

3) Government communications weak in advising the public of certain responsibilities

4) Private sector to go in for more exports than luxury imports.

5) Encourage all those who can to grow more food and improve their plantations better to diversify too

6) Cut down waste

These are just a few suggestions to manage the crisis.

This is not against people enjoying themselves as hotels need business but unnecessary imports and waste.

When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

If we love our country we should try and make a difference.
