The United States Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Biswal will arrive in Sri Lanka today on an official two-day visit.
Joined by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia Atul Keshap, she will review bilateral and regional issues with the new Sri Lankan Government, civil society and religious leaders and other officials, the State Department said.
This will be the first visit to Sri Lanka by a senior State Department official since national elections were held earlier this month.
The US Assistant Secretary’s visit comes a month prior to the UN Human Rights Council sessions where a report is to be tabled before the council on the probe on Sri Lanka.
