UNP to hand over nominations from 25 Jan.

Main opposition United National Party (UNP) yesterday commenced compiling nominations for the local government election.

The nomination boards headed by the party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe are to meet until 26 January.

The nominations are to be filed as per the first finished first submitted basis from 25 January, UNP sources say.  UNP sources further said that the party had given wider opportunity for women by giving nominations to all women applicants.

The accepting of nominations for the local government election commenced today and will close at 12:00 p.m. on 27 January.
