Rishad’s Ministry issues correction on UN Commissioner Zeid’s visit

Further to the press release issued on 11 January, by the Office of Industry and Commerce Minister Rishad Bathiudeen published yesterday in Daily FT, the Ministry has sent the following correction.

We regret to inform that there have been inaccuracies in the content, and your consideration of publishing the correction note below is kindly appreciated.  With regard to the visit by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, the United Nations Office in Colombo clarifies that the High Commissioner has accepted the invitation of the Government of Sri Lanka, and dates of his visit are yet to be finalised.

The meeting which took place between Minister Rishard Bathiudeen and UN Resident Coordinator Subinay Nandy, was an informal courtesy call as part of Nandy’s end of assignment meetings. 

The informal discussion between the UN Resident Coordinator and the Minister focused on the joint programs between the United Nations and the Government of Sri Lanka, particularly noting the important work carried out by the Ministry.
