President assures quality health service to all

President Maithripala Sirisena said that the Government would take every possible step to provide a quality health service to all its citizens by overcoming the challenges in the field of health.

He made this observation participating in ceremony to declare open the new seven-storey ward complex at the Kandy General Hospital on Thursday.

The President said that as a Government what they could do was provide required physical and human resources as well as to take steps to implement the necessary policies. He further said that the Government would give its fullest support in this regard.

President Sirisena appreciate the officers in the health service, including the doctors and nurses, for their commitment towards improving people’s health and assured to provide facilities for them to carry out their duties in the future too.

To date, the Government has spent Rs. 520 million on construction and buying equipment for this hospital, which aims at providing free health service.

Most Ven. Niyangoda Vijitha Siri Anunayaka Thero of Malwatta Chapter, Ministers Ranjith Senarathna, Lakshman Kiriella and S.B. Dissanayake, Chief Minister of the Central Province Sarath Ekanayake, Mayor of Kandy Mahendra Ratwatte, Governor of the Central Province Surangani Ellawala, Dr. Palitha Mahipala and others participated in the event.
