PM slams Opposition

Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne yesterday slammed the Opposition for always criticising the Government and pointing out its shortcomings instead of proposing solutions to address those shortcomings. Speaking in Parliament the Premier said that the country needs an Opposition which does not only just criticise but also makes suggestions to the Government. “The duty of the Opposition is to show the path the Government must take and not just criticise the Government always. You can’t allow the country to fall like a party falls,” he said. (Colombo Gazette)
