Speaker of the Parliament Chamal Rajapaksa said yesterday that the live telecast of parliamentary proceedings will re-commence after amending the House Standing Orders. The Speaker made this comment in response to a question posed by United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayaka as to when the live telecast of parliamentary proceedings will re-commence. Rajapaksa assured that the live telecast of House proceedings will re-commence and that an agreement on the matter will be signed with the respective private company who would provide the service. The Speaker on a previous occasion said that upon inquiring into the reason for the sudden halting of the telecast of live parliamentary proceedings, he was informed that the head of the private company was threatened by unknown persons for providing the facility to telecast live parliamentary proceedings.
