Lawyers Collective’s New Year resolutions

The Lawyers Collective, the umbrella organisation of lawyers fighting against the politically-motivated impeachment of the Chief Justice, in a statement has expressed the wish for a new year that protects rule of law and independence of the Judiciary.

“Having actively resisted the impeachment move, mooted by a powerful Executive, we are mindful of the challenges ahead of us. We always reminded the public of the fact that our struggle is not for ourselves but for them and the next generations to come. We will continue with our commitments in the New Year, without any compromise, despite the unprecedented threats faced by the institution of Judiciary and lawyers. We urge those who wish well for the country to join hands with us, in the New Year, to defeat the ill-advised and unconstitutional impeachment against the Chief Justice,” the statement said.
