Jayalath J. hospitalised following heart attack

Main opposition United National Party (UNP) Gampaha District parliamentarian Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena has been admitted to the hospital, following a heart attack.



The 58-year-old parliamentarian, who himself is a doctor by profession, is currently being treated at the cardiac section of the Intensive Care Unit at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital.

A hospital source said that MP’s condition is stable and is being closely monitored.

In April this year, the parliamentarian was admitted to East Surrey Hospital after being found unconscious at the Gatwick Airport in London. Specialist doctors at East Surrey hospital have recommended heart surgery for Jayawardena.
