The extracts of the investigation in connection with the popular American X-files TV actress Gillian Anderson’s Sri Lankan property case has been forwarded to the Attorney General for his advice, the CID informed court.

In a case before Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court, the Sri Lankan caretaker Anura Weeraratne Bandara had been charged with alleged misappropriation of Rs. 17.8 million from the Sri Lankan properties owned by Anderson.

Filing a further investigation report before Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya, the CID stated that it had already concluded the investigations into the incident and thereby the extracts of the investigations have forwarded to the AG for his advice. The CID further told court that the investigations had revealed that the suspect had allegedly misappropriated one million rupees.

Making a complaint with the CID, British national Job Davis complained that the suspect Anura Weeraratne Bandara had been entrusted to administrate the American actress’ properties located at Nugadola Watta in Pasyala and had thereby committed the offence. The complainant further alleged that the suspect had obtained Rs. 17.8 million from another company affiliated to the concerned properties on service requirements.

It further transpired Court that Anderson had bought seven acres of land in Nugadola Watta Pasyala with the objective of inaugurating a non-government organisation in the country. The land had been purchased in the name of Hill House Private Ltd. The suspect Anura Weeraratne Bandara had been appointed as a manager of the property.

The CID maintained that the suspect had obtained Rs. 6.8 million for the purpose of supplying electricity to the property and thereby misappropriated one million rupees. Further magisterial inquiry into the incident was postponed to September 30.
