SIYB Association of Sri Lanka is an umbrella organisation that provides facilitating services for
government departments, local authorities, private sector organisations and NGOs which provide business development services for the micro, small and medium scale entrepreneurs. Furthermore, SIYB Association is the only organisation in Sri Lanka that implements, develops and adapts SIYB training programs and materials introduced by the International Labour Organization (ILO) since 2000.
SIYB Association of Sri Lanka has developed a new training package called Foundation to SIYB to enhance the business management knowledge of self-employees, home-based/micro entrepreneurs after analysing the local context and conducting research on the needs, issues and characteristics of above target communities for several years. This training package was declared launched by the SIYB Association of Sri Lanka on a later date in Colombo.
This training package can be introduced as an effective and innovative tool that can be used to accomplish the objectives of various projects implemented by the government departments (such as Divi Neguma), local authorities, private sector organisations and NGOs. This training tool is composed of four customised training modules developed based on the issues and needs experienced by low income and vulnerable communities. They are:
1. Way To Business (WTB)
The objective of this module is to create an entrepreneurial culture among school leavers, unemployed youths, vocational training students and those who are at the time of selecting their future livelihood.
2. Foundation to Generate Your Business idea (FGB)
This has been developed for the people who do not have a concrete business idea, to select most suitable business sector through a scientific analysis of skills, experience and the environmental context of individuals.
3. Foundation to Start Your Business (FSB)
The objective of this module is to provide comprehensive knowledge of the selected business and develop a simple business plan for those who are having a concrete business idea.
4. Foundation to Improve Your Business (FIB)
This module is focused for micro entrepreneurs who are having at least one year business experience to enhance the business management knowledge by using practical Business Game and simple management concepts.
