Fonseka’s first public rally on 1 July

Former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka will address his first public rally on July 01 since his release on May 21 from prison under a presidential pardon.

Fonseka’s first public rally will be held in Matugama in Kalutara district.

The rally is organized by Kalutara district opposition United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian Palitha Thewarapperuma.

Thewarapperuma is an ardent supporter of Fonseka who has been reprimanded by the party hierarchy for his involvement in politics with Fonseka.

The rally is publicized as a thanks giving rally for the people who supported Fonseka in his unsuccessful presidential bid in 2010.
