Fisheries Corp. nets Rs. 4.5 m daily profit

Minister of Fisheries Rajitha Senaratne said that the Fisheries Corporation was earning a daily profit of Rs. 4.5 million.

Sri Lanka Fisheries Corporation opened its 70th outlet at the Special Economic Zone in Narahenpita.

  Addressing the gathering after opening of the outlet, the Minister stated that the corporation outlets had brought down the retail price of fish products, benefiting the consumer.

The Minister emphasised that the programme mooted by the corporation would help further bring down the price.

The Minister added that the Government’s programme had been launched not with the purpose of competing with others but to provide fish at reasonable prices to the consumers.

Minister Johnston Fernando and Parliamentarian Thilanga Sumathipala were also present at the opening of the outlet.
