The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s court yesterday issued summons on former Parliamentarian Mervyn Silva to give evidence on alleged abductions and disappearances.

The Chief Magistrate has ordered the former Minister to appear in court on 11 November.

Silva had in January claimed that an official of the former Government was responsible for abductions and extrajudicial killings, including that of Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickrematunga.

The former Minister had also filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against the former regime. (Colombo Gazette)
