National Water Supply and Drainage Board Chairman Chandana Bandara

National Water Supply and Drainage Board Chairman Chandana Bandara has warned that water supply may need to be restricted for several hours per day over the next two to three weeks due to prevailing dry and drought conditions.
Speaking to the media yesterday, he said that while supply cuts have not yet been implemented, current weather conditions could make it difficult to maintain a continuous 24-hour water supply in the
near term.
He noted that the production capacity of water treatment plants, including the Ambatale Water Treatment Plant, remains unaffected so far. However, water supply to high-elevation areas has already been reduced to low-pressure levels.
Bandara said rainfall is expected in the coming period and urged the public to use available water sparingly. He added that water bowsers are being deployed to supply areas experiencing low
pressure.
